Betty Jean Nowlin Edwards

Betty Jean Nowlin Edwards was born May 29, 1931 in Collinwood, TN the daughter of the late Walter and Parlie Shelton Nowlin. Mrs. Edwards departed this life at her home on March 9, 2020 in Gallatin, Tennessee at the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 9 days. She was united in marriage to Lemuel Edwards on November 26, 1952. After almost 65 years of marriage, Mr. Edwards preceded her in death on November 18, 2017. Mrs. Edwards was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed writing and teaching both ladies and children. She enjoyed speaking to ladies groups and was a devoted member of the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ. She was a proud graduate of Collinwood High School graduating valedictorian class of 1949. She is survived by two sons, Brian Edwards and wife, Robin of Hendersonville, TN, David Edwards of Auburntown, TN, a daughter, Martha Ramsey of Cookeville, TN, seven grandchildren, Teresa Lane and husband Jason, Chris Ramsey and wife Amanda, Todd Edwards and wife Cierra, Erica Small and husband Trevan, Jessie Searfoss and husband Taylor, Chelsie Walker and husband Pritchard, and Alex Edwards, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by two brothers, W.J. Nowlin and Bill Nowliin, three sisters, Frankie Barnette, Marie Beck, and Lucille Heard.
Services will be held on March 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, TN with Chris Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, TN. Visitation will be held Wednesday March 11 from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro.

Pallbearers include Todd Edwards, Alex Edwards, Trevan Small, Pritchard Walker, Taylor Searfoss, Jason Lane, and Jack Lane. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be given to the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund @ 744 Hartsville Pike, Gallatin,TN 37066
