Betty Lou Melton Brewer was born May 4, 1946 in Wayne County, TN, the daughter of the late William Allen and Ruby Lorene Thompson Melton. She was united in marriage to Edward Wayne Brewer on September 1, 1962.
Mrs. Brewer was a homemaker and her hobbies included traveling to Loretta Lynn's ranch, reading the bible, working word search puzzles and spending time with family and friends on the phone. She had lived in Turman, AK before returning to Wayne County.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Wayne Brewer of Collinwood, TN; a daughter, Vickey Darlene Dicus and husband, Dale of Collinwood, TN; sons, Markus Dewayne Brewer and William Eddie Brewer both of Collinwood, TN, Timothy Ray Brewer and wife, Tina of Cypress Inn, TN; grandchildren, Wayne Brewer, Josh Brewer, Kelly Brewer, D.J. Haddock, Misty Brewer, John Brewer, Jansen Brewer, Nikki Brewer, Daiken Dicus, Brooke Short, Keith Schachle; great-grandchildren, Brianna Brewer, Savannah Brewer, Skianna Thompson, Kaylee Brewer, Kadan Brewer, Karley Brewer, Addison Brewer, Eva Ray, Blade Brewer, Vivian Brewer, Sawyer Carter, Kamry Nix, Kaden Nix, Alex Haddock Thomas; sisters, Ruby Spurgeon and husband, Bill of Lawrenceburg, TN, Martha Novem of Florence, AL, Shelby Jean Anthony and husband, Charles of Florence, AL. nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by sisters, Rachael Polson, Mattie Dickey, Brenda Sullivan and a grandchild, Blade Brewer.
Services will be Monday, July 11, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee with Bill Hollander, Chad Balentine and John Hodum officiating. Burial will follow in Whitten's Crossroads Cemetery, Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Wayne Brewer, Josh Brewer, Jon Brewer, Daiken Dicus, D. J. Haddock and Jansen Brewer with Will Ragan as an alternate.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 6-9 pm and Monday, July 11, 2016 from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
