Betty Bishop

Betty Bishop, 59, of Olive Branch, Miss., formerly of Bolivar, died Monday, January 30, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven, Miss.



The wife of Eddie Bishop, who survives, she was a school teacher for 27 years. Mrs. Bishop was born June 30, 1946 in Jackson, Tenn., daughter of the late Leron Pierce Yarbrough and Mary Sue Jenkins Yarbrough and lived in Bolivar most of her life. She graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1964, received a degree from the University of Memphis in 1970 and attended Freed-Hardeman College. Mrs. Bishop loved to travel and visited all but two states in the Union. She made her home in Olive Branch over four years ago and was a member of the Olive Branch Church of Christ.



Services were 2:00 PM Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Jesse Dickison officiating. Burial was in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.



In addition to her husband, whom she married December 29, 1973, survivors include two daughters, Sheila Shiers and her husband, Mark, of Grand Junction, Amy Bishop of Olive Branch and two grandchildren, Mary Grace and Sadie Shiers. She was preceded in death by one brother, John Yarbrough.
