Bess Ida West

Bess Ida West departed this life on January 16, 2013 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 2 Months, 18 Days. She was born October 29, 1925 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Wesley and Ida Cofer Lowrance. She was the widow of James Melton West who preceded her in death on July 8, 1998.Mrs. West was a member of the Selmer Sanctified Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was retired from Brown Shoe Company in Selmer with 35 years of service. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Smith and husband James of Selmer, TN; two sons, Dennis (Dink) West and wife Phyllis and Houston West and wife Pam, both of Selmer; a stepdaughter, Janie Stephens and husband Bob of St. Louis, MO; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. West was preceded in death by a son, J. W. West; a sister, Ruby McMahan; a brother, Hugh Lowrance.
