Graveside services for Bert Kay, 76, of Cordova, formerly of Bolivar, are 12 pm Mon., April 17 at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 - 11:30 am Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar. He passed away April 13 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.
He was born Feb. 13, 1947, in Somerville, son of the late Benjamin Berton Kay and Louise Armour Kay, growing up in Bolivar and moved to Shelby County in his 20’s. He was retired from Shelby County Government as a construction engineer inspector where he worked for 26 years. He married Joyce Cross on July 3, 1984, and she preceded him in death on April 21, 2020. Mr. Kay enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his friends. He was known to always be willing to help anyone, making it his ‘daily mission’, and was a caring person with a huge heart.
Survivors include two sons, Ben Williamson (Lisa) of Piperton and Randy Kay (Jill) of Troy, MO; five grandchildren, Thomas Williamson, Chelsea Braden (Shawn), Logan, Cayden and Jaelynn Kay; two great grandchildren, Henly & Hazel; and a daughter in law, Judy Williamson of Cordova. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Williamson; a sister, Linda Fulghum and a brother, Ben Kay.
