He was born in Ellington, MO, the son of the late Thomas Dea and Fannie Delores Helvey Wells. He attended school at Ellington. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, stationed in Long Beach, CA and served on the Aleutian Island in Alaska. He was married to Grace Harner in 1945 and they lived in Chicago where he became an electrician with IBEW Local Union #134 during his career, he was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to help construct Magic Kingdom and Epcot at Walt Disney World, in Orlando. Being a farmer at heart, retirement brought them to Tennessee and they moved to Chester County in 2004.
He is survived by his wife Grace Harner Wells of Henderson; a son, Dick Wells (Amber) of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Linda McNelly (Pat) of Kenilworth, IL and Lisa Hale (Jeff) of Henderson; 7 grandchildren, Tammie, Rachel, Sarah, Jennifer, Steven, Katherine Grace and Ben and 6 great grandchildren; one brother, William Wells of Luray; four sisters, Essie Shoup, Hazel Adamson and Betty Myers all of Atlanta; and Judy Stern of Cocoa Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Denver and Bernie Wells and two sisters, Beulah Rhea and June Swanson.
