Bedford Forrest West, 72, of Bolivar, died Friday, December 2, at Tennessee Veterans Nursing Home in Humboldt.
The husband of Shirley Faye Lipford West, who survives, he was a crane operator, having worked for Gordon Terry Construction Co. and Chris Hill Construction Co. He was born April 2, 1933 in Hardeman County, son of the late Ulyses Dewey West and Bessie Vandiver West and lived most of his life here. He served as a Corporal in the US Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Mr. West attended West Memorial Baptist Church in his younger years and was Pentecostal in faith.
Services were 2 pm Sunday, December 4 at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Bolivar with Eddie Martin officiating. Burial was in West Memorial Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on July 14, 1977, survivors include five daughters, April Nicole Avent of Whiteville, Betsy Fish of Fowler, Ind., Tonya West Hammons of Bolivar, Beth McMahan of Middleton and Freda Worrell of Jackson; a sister, Johnnie Hyman of Bolivar; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
