Bedford Joe (B. J.) Harris age 66 of Middleton, passed away at St. Frances Hospital in Memphis, May 12, 2013.
Born October 19, 1946 in Middleton to James Douglas and Aneva Pearl Maxwell Harris, he was a graduate of Middleton High School. He served as Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge and a Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Harris was an officer with the Whiteville Police Department in the early 1970's and was a production worker at Sonoco in Jackson, TN where he lived around 30 years. He was a Christian in belief and loved to hunt and fish, and stamp collecting.
Survivors include his daughter Janie Harris of Middleton; his son Jason Douglas Harris of Dyersburg; 2 granddaughters Kayla and Melissa Serrano of Middleton; and a sister Frances Ann Shepherd of Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother James Leroy Harris.
