Barbara D. Pigg Mitchell

Barbara D. Mitchell of Waynesboro was born July 23, 1940 in Wayne County, TN the daughter of the late Eugene and Ruby Haithcoat Pigg. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her father in law and mother in law, Harry and Gladys Mitchell, and a daughter in law, Lisa Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell died Friday, October 10, 2014 at her home in Waynesboro at the age of 74 years, 2 months, and 17 days. She was retired from Angelica Manufacturing as a seamstress and was married to Thomas Mitchell, Sr. July 16, 1955.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Mitchell Sr.,
two sons, Douglas Mitchell Sr. and Thomas Mitchell Jr. all of Waynesboro, a daughter, Debra NcElderry and husband Bill of Canton, GA, ten grandchildren, Melanie Heath and husband Ron and Brendan McElderry both of Canton, GA, Douglas Mitchell Jr. and wife Jennifer, Eugene Mitchell, Amanda Davis and husband Steven, Thomas Mitchell III and wife Tera, Josh Mitchell and wife Holly, Andrew Mitchell and wife Krysten all of Waynesboro, TN, Colby Mitchell and Kelsey Mitchell both of Lawrenceburg, TN, eleven great-grandchildren, Connor McElderry, Avery Heath,Victoria Mitchell,Kayden Mitchell, Charlie Ann Mitchell, Adrianna Mitchell, Chloe Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Kandance Mitchell, Isabella Mitchell, and Nevaeh Mitchell, a brother, Jerry Pigg of Cypress Inn, TN.

Services will be held on October 12, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood with John E. Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Collinwood Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
