Barbara Carter Mayes

Barbara Carter Mayes went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, March 14, 2025.  She was born Thursday, August 15, 1935, to Frank Joseph Carter and Bernice Holland Carter.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mayes Sr. on September 12, 2022, her brother, Robert Carter and her sister, Peggy Hailey.

She leaves behind three sons, Wayne Cralley (Judy), Allen Cralley (Tami) and Kevin Cralley (Jean); two stepchildren, Beverly Bumpus and Ralph Mayes, Jr. (Sheila), and three grandchildren, Gabe, Kole and Elizabeth.  She also leaves a sister, Bernedia Carter Perkins (John).

The family would like to thank SSM Hospice of Mt Vernon, IL and White Oak Nursing Home, Mt Vernon, IL, for their loving care.

Graveside funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Monday, March 31, 2025, at Saulsbury Cemetery.
