Barbara D. Martin

Barbara Martin was born May 18, 1931 in Selmer, TN, the daughter of the late Johnnie Harvey and Lena Mae McNatt Dunaway. She departed this life on April 21, 2019 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 11 Months, 3 Days.

Barbara was a lifetime member of New Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was united in marriage to Earnest Lee "Pete" Martin on December 20, 1958. Mr. Martin preceded her in death on August 22, 1992. She retired from AT&T. She spent a lot of her time volunteering. She had helped with Fish and Loaves in McNairy County and served at Sulphur Springs Firestation when they had a fish fry. Many people knew about her delicious chocolate pies and her friendly spirit.

She is survived by two daughters, Lenora Smith and husband Richard, Patricia Ellis and husband Joe all of Selmer, TN; six grandchildren, Rachel Barncastle and husband Matt of Jackson, TN, Rebecca Smith of Jackson, TN, Lonnie Ellis and wife Carrie of Norfolk, VA, Bryant Ellis and wife Kathleen of Mobile, AL, Tiffany Ellis of Mobile, AL, Stephanie Ellis of Mobile, AL; 7 great grandchildren; a nephew, Paul Dunaway; a niece, Karen Clenney; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a brother, John Robert Dunaway and his wife Jean; and a nephew, Andy Dunaway.
