Barbara Ramona Hurst

Barbara Ramona Smith Hurst of Williamsburg, VA formerly of Waynesboro, TN was born November 16, 1935 in Adamsville, TN, the daughter of the late Milford A. and Wilma E. Todd Smith. She was united in marriage to Hawthorne Hampton Hurst on December 23, 1951 and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2020.

Mrs. Hurst was a retired teacher having taught in at Wayne County High School and as a missionary in Eku and Jos, Nigeria. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee.

Mrs. Hurst departed this life on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, Virginia at the age of 86 Years, 8 Months, 1 Day.

She is survived by a daughter, Ramona Daire (Hurst) Sadler, husband, Thor Paul of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Val-Kyria Minuette Sadler, Tara Grace Sadler and Tyrus Odin Hurst Sadler and a brother, Stanley M. Smith of Jackson, TN.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hurst was preceded in death by a grandaughter, Vivian Faith Sadler.

Services will be Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Jacob Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow in the Crump First Baptist Church Cemetery, Crump, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family. Pallbearers will be Gary Mitchell, Ricky Mitchell, Darrell Petty, Billy Parrish, Leland Parrish and Bobby Andrews.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors Waynesboro, TN and Friday, July 22, 2022 from 9:30 am to service time at Calvary Baptist Church.
