Azalee Nichols

Azalee Nichols was born January 17, 1917 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Charlie and Era Wilds Nichols.Miss Nichols obtained her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the former Memphis State University. Upon returning to McNairy County, she taught first grade for 43 years at Chewalla, Guys, Gravel Hill, and Needmore. She was a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church, the McNairy County Retired Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and the Tennessee Education Association. Miss Nichols enjoyed visiting with family and friends, sewing, and crocheting. Miss Nichols departed this life on November 23, 2008 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 10 Months, 4 Days. She is survived by three sisters: Ona Allen of Nashville, TN, Martha Kennedy of Selmer, TN and Mary Sims of Guys, TN; special niece Ellen Horton and husband James of Guys, TN; and several other extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Miss Nichols was preceded in death by two brothers, Hershell Nichols and Charles Nichols.
