A.W. Burney was born June 26, 1938 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late J.P. and Carrie Cox Burney.
He was united in marriage to Eva Elizabeth Lambert on October 5, 1971.
Mr. Burney retired from Corinth Ready Mix Concrete Products after 30 years. In his younger years, A.W. loved to drag race his Pontiac GTO. He was an avid drag racing enthusiast along with muscle cars. He has worked on and/or owned GTOs, Mustangs, and Chevelles. He loved working in his shop on cars and farming when he was able.
Mr. Burney departed this life on February 5, 2019 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 7 Months, 10 Days. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Burney of Guys, TN; a son, William Jason Burney and wife Melissa of Hohenwald, TN; a daughter, Wanda Annette (Annie) Burney of Selmer, TN; a granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Burney; brother, James Travis Burney of Farmington, MS; sister, Louise B. Carroll of Michie, TN; sister-in-law, Janice Rhodes and husband Gerald; two brothers-in-law, Darrell Lambert and wife Wanda and Rodney Dale Lambert; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burney was preceded in death by a sister, Helen B. McDonald.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to LeBonheur Children's Hospital or Special Olympics Tennessee.
