Avanell Coggins Smith Grant was born February 20, 1931 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Lena Lain and James Willie Smith.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Coggins on March 27, 1950. Mr. Coggins preceded her in death on April 28, 1970.
Mrs. Grant was a member of the Mt. Sharon Prebyterian Church in the Gilchrist community. Mrs. Grant was retired from Dollar General having been employed as a store manager for 20 years.
Mrs. Grant departed this life on July 22, 2010 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 5 Months, 2 Days.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Mrs. Rhonda Sharp and fiance Robert Sutton of Adamsville, TN, Mr. Jeremiah Coggins and wife Jill of Jackson, TN, and Ms. Christy Shannon of Scotts Hill, TN; three great-grandchildren, Amber Sutton, Jessie Sutton, and Cason Coggins; three sisters, Mrs. Brenda Scott of Stantonville, TN, Mrs. Elizabeth Gray of Adamsville, TN, and Mrs. Kay Young of Adamsville, TN; one brother, Mr. Billy Smith of Adamsville, TN; adopted family, Steve, Chari Beth, and Taylor White; a daughter-in-law, Sue Coggins; and a specail friend, Mr. Jim Grant.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by two daughters, Ms. Teresa Elain Coggins, and Ms. Gail Newman; a son, Mr. Walt Coggins; a great-grandaughter, Julie Ann Sutton; and four brothers, Mr. Jackie Smith, Mr. Gary Smith, Mr. Maynard Lee Smith, and Mr. Donald Eugene (Pete) Smith.
