Mrs. Augusta Jordan age 91 died Tuesday morning at Southern Oaks Assisted Living in Henderson.
She was born and grew up in Quincy Florida, daughter of the late Edward Perry and Leiland Davis Woodward. She attended and graduated from Maryville University in 1946 with a BS in Home Economics. On October 5, 1952 she was married to George Walker Jordan Jr. with whom she celebrated fifty six years of marriage prior to his death in 2009. Mr. and Mrs. Jordan moved to Chester County in 2008 to be near their son George W. Jordan III.
She was a member of the Middlefork Road Baptist Church at Luray. Mrs. Jordan enjoyed gardening and raising Daylilies for which she had won over one hundred awards. She loved, above all else; reading, studying and living God's Word. Her sweet smile and kind heart was a true reflection of Christ.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by sons, George Walker Jordan III and wife Beth of Henderson, Edward P. Jordan and wife Pam of Kernersville NC; grandchildren Wayne Jordan (Jeania), Jimmy Jordan (Kaylah), Mark Jordan(Paige), Allen Jordan, Kimberly Peplinski (Eric), Kevin Jordan; great grandchildren, Hunter Jordan (Shayna), Tanner Jordan, Halle Jordan, Jasper Jordan, Pierce Jordan, Cole Jordan, Rex Jordan; and one great- great grandchild Kalayah Jordan.
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by two sisters, Fenton McClain and Margaret Adams, four brothers, Sylvester, Howard, Perry, and William Woodward.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Jordan will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Shackelford Johnson Chapel with Bro. Glenn Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Henderson City Cemetery.
