Artie Mae Cottner Hawkins was born March 31, 1921 in Itasca, Texas the daughter of the late Robert and Lou Ella Parrott Baucum Cottner.
She was united in marriage to John T. Hawkins on August 9, 1941. Mr. Hawkins preceded her in death on September 8, 1984.
In her early adulthood, Mrs. Hawkins was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Selmer but spent most of her life as a homemaker. She and her husband were charter members of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee which was founded November 11, 1949. In her spare time, Mrs. Hawkins loved to fish and enjoyed painting as well.
Mrs. Hawkins departed this life on August 19, 2008 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 4 Months, 19 Days. She is survived by a son, Donald Hawkins and wife Doris of Selmer, TN; two grandchildren: Daryl Hawkins and wife Lori and Darren Hawkins and wife Lisa, all of Selmer, TN; four great grandchildren: J. T. Hawkins, Samuel Hawkins, Lauren Hawkins and Easton Hawkins, all of Selmer, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by a grt-grandchild, Zachary Hawkins; three sisters: Bertie Clark, Almindy Cottner and Memphy Smith; and five brothers, Dossie Baucum, Hobert Cottner, Elvis Cottner, Alonzo Cottner and Paul Cottner.
