She was born at Enville, TN the daughter of the late Robert and Allen and Mary Vernon Burross Gibson. She attended schools at Milledgeville and graduated Chester County High School in 1941 and graduated Freed Hardeman College in 1943. She moved to Nashville and taught at David Lipscomb Elementary School and also graduated David Lipscomb College in 1949 and then attended Peabody College for teachers where she received a Master's Degree in Education. She continued to teach at David Lipscomb and in 1957 was married to Milton 'Red' Roberts. They moved to Chester County and she bagan teaching at East Elementary School and remainded there until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the Chester County Retired Teacher's Association.
She is survived by three daughters Leigh Roberts of Henderson; Montelle White of Glen Ridge, N.J. and Jeannan Haygood of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren; two brothers James C. 'Jim' Gibson of Villa Rica, GA and Robert Harmon Gibson of Union City, TN; one sister Irene Holloway of Savannah.
