ANN PORTER BENNETT
Finger, TN: Annie Mae Porter Bennett age 91, passed away April 23, 2022 at her home.
She was born August 11, 1930 in Chester County, in the Hickory Corner Community, the daughter of the late Ardie Willis and Pearl Stansell Porter. She attended Hickory Corner Schools and in 1953 was married to Walter E. Bennett. They made their home in Delanco, NJ where Mr. Bennett worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone. Mr. Bennett retired in 1986 and they moved to the Hickory Corner community.
Mr. Bennett died on November 21, 2020.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bethel Springs, where she was very active, when she was able.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by a son, Barry Bennett of Columbia, MO; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Bennett of Finger; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Lurene Faulkner of Ramer and Betty Jean Weaver of Finger and a brother, Arlin Porter of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter E. Bennett in 2020; a son, James E. Bennett and two sisters, Elvie Smith and Wanna Redmon.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 26th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Jacob Brimm officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday.
