Anita Hurst Moore was born May 29, 1937 in Selmer, TN the daughter of the late Allie Edgar and Lavara Evelyn "Doll" Higginbottom Hurst.
She was united in marriage to Joe Vance Moore on August 25, 1957. Mr. Moore preceded her in death on January 16, 2000.
Mrs. Moore was baptized in August of 1947 at First Christian Church in Selmer and a member for almost 73 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in home economics from Memphis State and an advanced degree in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University. She was a teacher at Selmer High School, McNairy Central High School and Adamsville High School. She was the first county Vocational Director and was President of Tennessee Vocational Association. She was involved in Junior Civic League serving as President.
Anita and her sister Betty were partners in The Honey Tree, a woman’s dress shop, in Selmer in the early 1970s. She also owned Sawmill Showcase and was a faithful member of the Bridge Club.
Mrs. Moore departed this life on February 11, 2020 in at the age of 82 Years, 8 Months, 13 Days. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Weatherford of Selmer, TN; a sister, Linda (Hurst) Barnes and husband Rod of Selmer, TN; two grandchildren, Leah Tompkins and husband Toby of Muscle Shoals, AL, Jay Weatherford of Selmer, TN; two great grandchildren, Lauren and Jett Franks; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by a sister, Betty (Hurst) Barron.
