He was born and reared in Chester County, the Masseyville Community, the son of the late Elder Priddy Smith and Ethel Whitman Smith. He attended schools at Masseyville. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and was stationed in Africa and Italy during WWII and returned home in 1945. He was married to Elsie Maness in 1946. They made their home in the Old Friendship Community most of their married life. He had worked at Quality Manufacturing for 29 years, retiring in 1989, as Superintendent. He was a member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge. He attended Little Hatchie Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years Elsie Maness Smith of Finger; a son Terry Smith and wife Debra of Finger; four grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister Emergene Weaver of Pinson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers Raymond Smith, Billy Joe Smith and Conan Smith and two sisters, Maxine Weaver and Allene Stidham.
