Alton T. Phillips

Alton T. Phillips was born February 10, 1913 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Luther and Anna Forsyth Phillips.He was united in marriage to Zelphia Huggins Phillips who preceded him in death on January 17, 1988.In his early years, Mr. Phillips lived and farmed in the New Hope Community near Michie. He was retired from Fruehauf Trailer Company after 30 years of service. He was a longstanding member of the New Hope Methodist Church near Michie, Tennessee.He departed this life on December 24, 2005 in Pinehurst, North Carolina at the age of 92 Years, 10 Months, 14 Days.Mr. Phillips is survived by a son, Randall Phillips and wife Sandra of Pinehurst, North Carolina; brothers, Coleman Phillips of Ramer, Tennessee, James Phillips of Guys, Tennessee, Joe Phillips of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Bertha Farris of Corinth, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Todd Phillips of Burlington, North Carolina, Carey Phillips of Nashville, Tennessee, Christy Strigel of Durham, North Carolina and six great grandchildren, Isabel Strigel, Gabrielle Strigel, Bjorn Strigel, and Analise Strigel all of Durham, North Carolina, Andrew and Amanda Royal both of Burlington, North Carolina.Other than his parents and his wife, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by a son, Troy Gaylon Phillips.
