ALTON AYERS
was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on August 19, 1936 the son of the late Bondy and Gertrude Nix Ayers
On November 15, 1960 he was united in marriage to the former Joan Louise Miller, who survives.
Mr. Ayers retired after 35 years from Davis Brothers. He was a member of Faith Pointe Church. Mr. Ayers enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, junking and recycling.
He departed this life on February 5, 2008 at the Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 17 days.
Other than his wife, Joan of Savannah, Tennessee he is survived by 2 daughters, Tresa Jane Henson and Rosanna Marie Sharp, both of Savannah, Tennessee and 2 sons, Jerry Wayne Ayers of Savannah, Tennessee and Alton Joe "Jody" Ayers of Michie, Tennessee
16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren
3 sisters, Ola May Price and Elizabeth Tanner, both of Savannah, Tennessee and Lou Vera Christie of West Helena, Arkansas and one brother, Charles Ayers of Atoka, Tennessee.
Mr. Ayers was also preceded in death by one son, William Dean Ayers, one grandchild, Rex Allen Ayers, one sister, Annie Mae Ayers and one brother, Allen Ayers.
