Altha Lee Melton

Altha Lee McNatt Melton was born August 24, 1920 in Selmer, Tennessee the daughter of the late Robert (Buster) and Reginia Earlene Tripp McNatt.



She was united in marriage to Clyde W. Melton, Sr. on April 24, 1945. Mr. Melton preceded her in death on January 3, 1980.



Mrs. Melton retired from McNairy County General Hospital in 1982, where she worked in the newborn nursery. During her tenure there, she had the opportunity to care for babies born to mothers whom she helped care for when they were newborns. Mrs. Melton loved to quilt and sew, and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.



Mrs. Melton departed this life on November 15, 2010 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 2 Months, 22 Days. She is survived by three daughters: Rezina C. Ham and husband Jeff of Selmer, TN, Margaret Reynolds and husband Maurice of Ramer, TN, and Katie McClain and husband Benny of Ramer, TN; a son, Clyde Melton, Jr. and wife Joan of Celestine, IN; eight grandchildren: Regina Schifani, Jerrol Tate, Jeff Reynolds, Erin Anderson, Rachel Dancer, Allison McClain, Megan Clark, and Bethany Walters; 16 great- grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Daniel McClain and Steven McClain; a sister, Virginia McNatt; a brother, Robert L. McNatt, Jr.; paternal grandparents John Robert and Synthia Wolfe McNatt and maternal grandparents Henry and Althea Tripp.
