Allen Morris, 84, of Whiteville, departed this life Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widower of Shirley Holland Morris, who passed away in 2002 after 46 years of marriage, he was self-employed furniture upholsterer. He was born Friday, December 31, 1937, in Fayette County, son of the late Zellner Hardin Morris, Sr., and Mattie Bell Campbell Morris and lived in Fayette and Hardeman Counties all of his life. He was a 1956 graduate of Whiteville High School and served in the US Navy Reserves for four years. Mr. Morris enjoyed working all the time, fishing and driving his Ford 601 work master tractor while bush hogging, but especially loved being around his family and going to church. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah A. Burkeen (Ernie) of Whiteville and Bridget Amanda Morris of Jackson; a son, Joe Allen Morris (Melanie) of Whiteville; a brother in law, Fred Bub Bomar of Braden, TN; four grandchildren, Leslie Nuce (Josh), Brandon Burkeen, Sandy Jo Hill (Bryan) and Thomas Allen Morris (Keri); six great grandchildren, Paetience Nuce, Brianna Smith, Kaleb Kutz, Koby Morris, Dylan Morris and Camaron Smith; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Zellner Morris, Jr., Herman Morris and Larry Morris.
