Alice Mae White

Alice Mae White, 91, of Whiteville, departed this life on Saturday evening, June 17, 2023, at Bolivar General Hospital.  

She was born in Enid, OK, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Lowe and on February 24, 1956, she was united in marriage to Mr. Carter V. White.  Mr. White passed away following 52 years of marriage on November 5, 2008.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Neva O'Miela.

Mrs. White worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Union Planters Bank in Memphis (where she lived for 10 years), Bolivar Motor Company and, the Hardeman County Baptist Association.  She also worked for Ray Grantham at Bolivar Paper Products for 40 years.  She lived a short period of time in Lincoln, NE while her husband was in the Air Force and had been in Hardeman County since 1975.

She was a 35 year member of Midway Baptist Church near Whiteville and, in her leisure time, enjoyed walking, gardening, fishing and red roses.  She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves her daughter, Cherie Wynne (David) of Middleton; two sons, Rex and Paul White, both of California; four grandchildren, Christina White of California, Candace Wynne of Switzerland, Wesley Wynne (Heather) of Nebraska and Emily Wynne of Middleton; and five great-grandchildren, Kylee Perrine of Switzerland, Addison Wynne of Nebraska, Samuel Galloway of Middleton, Rylie and Dominic Corral, both of California.
