Alice Marie Cox of Hornsby, Tennessee, was born on Wednesday, February 11, 1931, to the late Neely and Ida Mae Chandler Cox. She was united in marriage to Monroe Cox who preceded her in death on August 29, 1989. She was a restaurant owner and operator. Mrs. Cox passed from this life on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at McNairy Regional Hospital in Selmer at the age of 78 years and 20 days.Survivors are her daughter, Alice Faye McClain of Selmer; her son, Johnny L. Cox and wife Linda of Hornsby, Tennessee; two sisters, Margie Howell of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, and Grace Dukes of Columbus, Georgia; a brother, Verlon Cox of Bolivar, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Kim Williams and husband Daniel, Sheila White and husband Timmy, Denise Lambert and husband Adam, Shelby Cox, Alex Cox; nine great-grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher, Nicholas, Katie, John, Lucas, Cherish, Heaven, Kara; one great-great-grandson, Noah Lee Williams.A host of other relatives and friends.Other than her husband and parents, Mrs. Cox was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Bray and Helen Johnson, and two brothers, Virgil and Vernon Cox.
