Alex White was born March 25, 1916 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Benjamin Coley and Alice Boshart White.
On April 18, 1942, he was united in marriage to Doskye Surratt, who preceded him in death on April 21, 1999.
Mr. White was a farmer and construction worker. He enjoyed raised truck patches and giving away his produce to others. One of the notable construction projects he worked on was the original Pickwick Inn. His last employment was with Aqua Glass, where he retired in 1981. He was a member of the West Shiloh Baptist Church, having served on the Cemetery Committee, and was the oldest male member. Mr. White also enjoyed meeting with the Adamsville Senior Citizens when he was able.
Mr. White departed this life on October 31, 2010 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 94 Years, 7 Months, 6 Days. He is survived by a daughter, Nelda King of Stantonville, TN; two grandchildren, Tammy Moore and husband Jimmy of Stantonville, TN and Jason King and wife Marida of Ramer, TN; a great-grandchild, Brandon Moore of Stantonville, TN; a sister, Marie Rickman of Stantonville, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by five sisters: Alma Wardlow, Illie Patrick, Mamie Wardlow, Nannie Mae White, and Ruby White; a brother, Grady White; and a son-in-law, Austin King.
