Albert Walter Jacobs of Memphis, TN passed away on February 15, 2022. He was born on August 21, 1932 in Bolivar Tennessee, the son of the late Roy and Jennie Jacobs.
Walter led a typical southern small-town life until business school led him not only to a career in the financial industry but also to the love of his life, Ina. While on leave from the army, they married in 1954 and built a marvelous life together over 63 years of marriage. As his family grew to include four children, Walter made it his number one priority to provide for and give them every opportunity he could.
After his retirement, Walter and Ina moved to Hendersonville, TN to lead a life full of volunteering for organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Hendersonville Senior Center, and numerous hospitals and retirement homes. They truly enjoyed devoting their time to helping others and the community around them. After Ina’s death in 2018, Walter returned to Memphis where he was able to reconnect with friends and enjoy special time with multiple generations of family who adored him. He and his grandson, Adam, grew especially close over the past four years, as Adam accompanied him almost everywhere he went and was never more than a few minutes away if Walter wanted or needed anything.
Walter had a gift for making everyone feel like family. And there will never be anyone more kind, loyal and trustworthy than him. He was also a humble man with much gratitude for the full and wonderful life he had.
Walter is survived by his daughter Susan (Stephen) Hayne of Memphis and son Tony (Cindy) of Acworth, GA, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a brother (Roy of Memphis). In addition to his wife Ina (McIntyre), he was preceded in death by two sons (Russ and Ron).
A memorial service will be held for Walter this spring. The family welcomes donations to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
