Aileen Carter

Aileen Martin Carter of Waynesboro, TN was born January 7, 1920 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late John and Mattie Ray Martin. She was united in marriage to Harvel Carter on July 4, 1943 and he preceded her in death during World War II.

Mrs. Carter was a retired bookkeeper with Thompson Lumber Company in Memphis, TN and a faithful member of Ray's Chapel Baptist Church in Waynesboro, TN for over 47 years . She departed this life on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Center in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee at the age of 96 Years, 2 Months, 15 Days.

She is survived by nieces, Rita Dicus and Reba Drolick both of Collinwood, TN and Linda Burgess and Virginia Buck both of Nashville, TN; nephews, Ted Martin of Cadiz, KY, George Harold Martin of Clay, MS and Michael Martin of Sand Springs, OK; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and her devoted caregiver, Nancy Porter of Collinwood, TN.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by brothers, Ed, Alfred, Norman and Lester Martin and a sister, Georgia Ayers.

Services will be Friday, March 25, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with David Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.

Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2016 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the funeral home.
