Wayne (J.W.) Mullins
Henderson: Julious Wayne Mullins, age 83, died Saturday morning, March 29, 2014 at his home in Henderson.
Mr. Mullins was born in Mississippi and reared in Memphis, the son of the late A. G. Freed Mullins and Hattie Louise McCaskill Mullins. He attended school in Mississippi and Memphis and in 1946 entered the U. S. Army and served during the Korean War, stationed in Okinawa and also served in the U.S. Navy stationed in Hawaii. He married Nona Jean Scott of McNairy County in 1957. They moved to Memphis where he was a pipe fitter in Local # 407 Steam and Pipe Fitter Union. They moved to Henderson in 1971. He was an avid coon hunter and loved to fish and loved working in the outdoors and taking care of his yard.
He was a member on the VFW and a member of Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nona Jean Scott Mullins, two sons; Johnny Mullins of Arizona and Keith Mullins of Jackson, and a daughter Vicki Couch of Jackson, a sister June Williams of Southaven, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother A. G. Mullins, Jr.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Marcus Hayes and Bobby Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 8 PM on Monday at Casey Chapel.
