RUTH JEAN GAFFNEY
Enville, TN: Ruth Jean Fette Gaffney age 90 passed away March 5, 2019 at her granddaughter’s home at Jacks Creek .
She was born August 1, 1928 in Kearny, New Jersey the daughter of the late Ernest and Sarah Carroll Fette. She married George William Gaffney in 1945. They made their home in New Jersey, Florida and moved to Chester County in 1959. She worked at Salant & Salant as an instructor. Mr. Gaffney died in 2015. She enjoyed making bracelets and necklaces. She loved to shop and never met a stranger.
Mrs. Gaffney is survived by two sons, George Edward ‘Butch’ Gaffney of Enville and Don Gaffney of Morris Chapel and three daughters, Donna Lee Johnson of Henderson, Ruth Weaver of Henderson and Gail Bell of Enville; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers, Timothy, Josh, Andy, Harry, Herman and Ernie Fette and three sisters, Eleanor Smith, Elizabeth Machemer and Hannah Fette.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, March 8, 2019 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Danny Ray and Brent Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Sweetlips Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday.
