Rachel Faye Farris

Rachel Faye Ayers Farris of Collinwood, TN was born September 27, 1922 in Giles Co., TN, the daughter of the late Van Ayers and Donie Gunner. She was united in marriage to Charles Jefferson Farris, Jr. on October 3, 1942 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2000.

Mrs. Farris was a homemaker, a member of the Collinwood Church of Christ in Collinwood, Tennessee, a member of the Home Demonstration Club and the Democratic Women.

Mrs. Farris departed this life on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 10 Months, 5 Days.

She is survived by sons, Daniel W. (Dan) Farris and wife, Bonnie of Collinwood, TN, Charles Ross (Chuck) Farris and wife, Sue of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Cindi McFall and husband, Greg of Collinwood, TN, Kim Williams and husband, Russ of Louisville, KY, Tracy Lee and husband, Mike of Abilene, TX, David Farris and wife, Stacey of Waco, TX; 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Farris was preceded in death by two brothers, Woodrow and Charlie Ayers; a sister, Mary Allard.

Services will be Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Glen Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Ted McWilliams, James Quentin McWilliams, Robert Farris, Ricky Bratton, Gerald Eaton, and Terry Swiney.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 6 pm - 9 pm and Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 11 am until 1:15 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Collinwood Church of Christ in Collinwood, TN.
