Patricia Ann Taylor Elam was born November 9, 1937 in Ramer, TN the daughter of the late Emmett and Ilene Swain Taylor.
She was united in marriage to Wayne Elam on September 20, 1958.
Mrs. Elam was a 1956 graduate of Ramer High School, where she excelled as a forward for the basketball team. She attended Jackson Business College and worked for Levi Strauss in Ramer before opening Elam Mattress Company with her husband Wayne, which they co-owned and operated for 35 years. Mrs. Elam loved her yard and flowers, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Ramer Ruritan Club and a charter member of Unity Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Elam departed this life on October 25, 2019 at her home in Ramer, Tennessee at the age of 81 Years, 11 Months, 16 Days. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Wayne Elam of Ramer, TN; two sons, Jason Elam and Tommy Elam (Crystal), all of Ramer, TN; a daughter, Leigh Ann Elam Michael (Randy) of Booneville, MS; six grandchildren: Ashleigh Flurry (Kevin), Thomas Elam (Audrie), Sara Beth Howell (Blake), Bradley Elam (Kennedy), Mallory Martin (Austin), and Gracie Robbins; eight great-grandchildren: Elam Flurry, Mary Michael Flurry, Beckham Howell, Ann Sutton Howell, Baylor Robbins, Harmon Elam, Dex Martin, and Aurora Elam; a sister, Betty Sue Huggins of Memphis, TN; a brother, Tom Taylor (Sarah) of Selmer, TN; a daughter of the heart, Teresa Lester (Mark) of Selmer, TN; special caregiver Faye Newcomb; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Elam was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Karsyn Elam, and two sisters, Mary Jean Miller and Kay Lawless.
