Mildred Elizabeth Boyd Ashe was born April 16, 1929 in McNairy County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late David Taft and Pauline Gage Boyd.
She was united in marriage to Albert D. Ashe on August 20, 1945. They began their lives together in Savannah as residents of the Farris Hotel. To this union two sons were born: Albert David Ashe and William “Ron” Ashe. Albert D. preceded Mildred in death on July 12, 2003, following 58 years of marriage.
Mildred was a devout Missionary Baptist, an avid homemaker, and an extreme family mentor. She enjoyed her Home Demonstration Clubs, traveling, gardening, sewing (especially making costumes for the kids), cooking, canning, playing Rook, and watching westerns on T.V. She also followed her sons into scouting, serving as a Cub Scout Leader for Pack 33 in Savannah.
Mildred departed this life on March 7, 2022 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 92 Years, 10 Months, 19 Days. She is survived by her son Ron Ashe and wife Freeda (Robinson) of Savannah, TN; a daughter-in-law, Margret (Cochran) Ashe of Savannah, TN; four grandchildren: Pamela Paige Ashe-McLean and husband David, William “Robin” Ashe and wife Megan, Whit Robert-Gerry Ashe and wife Samantha, and James Lee Ashe and wife Hannah; six great-grandchildren: Morgan, Madison, Weston, and Maycen Ashe, and Declan and Ashlan McLean; a sister, Paulette Rippie of Selmer, TN; a brother-in-law, Wilburn Gene Ashe and wife Linda of Selmer, TN; three nephews: Richard Ashe, Craig Boyd, and David Rippie; a niece, Cynthia Droke; several great-nieces and great-nephews; lifelong friends Mary Jo Johnson of Savannah, TN and Gordon Michaels of Selmer, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by a son, Albert David Ashe, on February 17, 2007, and a brother, Manley Boyd.
