Mary Frances Thornton departed this life peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in Bolivar.
She was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Bolivar, daughter of the late Alfred Thomas Howell and Louise Sisco Howell and lived in Detroit, Michigan for several years prior to moving back to this area. She lived in Middleton before moving to Bolivar about 4 1/2 years ago. She married Clinneth "Tiny" Thornton on June 27, 1985, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1994. While in Detroit, she worked as a line worker for General Motors, before becoming disabled. She was Baptist in faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Flusty of Grand Blanc, MI; a son, Thomas Burgess of Bolivar; a sister, Dorothy Stewart (Mike) of Selmer; two brothers, David Howell (Martha) of Middleton and Johnny Howell (Brenda) of Bolivar; four grandchildren, Christina Williams, Harry Burgess, Ashley Flusty and Jessica Neff; and two great grandchildren, Chevelle and Presley. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Charles Howell and three sisters, Brenda Faye Howell, Linda Gardner and Mariola Bernadine.
The Memorial service will be at Hebron Baptist church in Middleton and her remains will be buried behind the church next to her beloved husband.
A dinner will follow after burial for those attending the service.
