Mr. Leon Sanders, age 66 of Saulsbury, departed this life Saturday morning, June 21, 2014 at his home.
The husband of Liz Russell Sanders, who survives, he was retired as a well technician, having worked for Wilson Well Company for 23 years. He was born May 8, 1948, in Saulsbury, son of the late Howard Woodrow Sanders and Janie Brock Sanders and lived all of his life in the county. He served in the US Army in Vietnam and Germany from 1968-70 and was in the Black Horse Division of the 1st Cavalry. He was a Christian in faith, having been baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening and tinkering.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on May 30, 1970, survivors include two daughters, Autumn Lynn Richardson of Rogers Springs and Amy Gail Agee of Walnut, MS; five sisters, Virgie Horn and Donna Jones, both of Middleton, Bonnie Hunt of Faulkner, MS, Brenda Delaschmidt of Walnut, MS and Carolyn Sanders of Ashland, MS; a brother, Kenneth Sanders of Horn Lake, MS; 7 grandchildren and one great grand child on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Sanders and Pearl Dangel and three brothers, Joe Edward Sanders, Jimmy O'Neal Sanders and George Woodrow Sanders.
