JOHN HIGHT
John Wesley Hight departed this life on May 16, 2015 at Jackson-Madison County Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 22 days. He was born in Morris Chapel, Tennessee on September 24, 1933 to devoted parents Will and Devora Newman Hight.
John grew up in the Morris Chapel Community where he attended school. He graduated from Morris Chapel High School in 1952. After graduation he worked in Peoria, Illinois for a short time. Then, returning to Morris Chapel he was involved in an automobile accident that left him paralyzed.
Family and friends that have known John through the sixty-one years he had been paralyzed all have this to say about him, "You go to visit him to cheer him up but he always cheers you up". He has enjoyed playing dominoes, checkers, and chess with many friends over the years. John was a collector of knives, people came from the surrounding area to purchase knives from him. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed his plants and flowers.
After many years of being confined to home he purchased an automobile equipped for him to drive. Then he enjoyed driving to see friends and delivering them vegetables he had grown. John will truly be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Devora Hight, a baby sister, Betty Jean Hight and sister Jo Ann Curtis, a brother Sammy Hight and a sister in law, Meta Hight.
He is survived by a brother, Paul (Tud) Hight and his wife Cheryl, a brother in law, Travis Curtis, sister in law, Judy Hight, five nieces, three nephews, six great nieces, five great nephews, one great great niece, one great great nephew and his trusted caregiver, Lila Williams of Morris Chapel, Tennessee.
John was always good for a smile and a laugh. John was known for his quick wit, smart humor and many stories of his families and friends.
