James William Webb, Jr. (Jim) was born on March 11,1930 in Washington, D.C. to James William Webb and Margaretta Carrie Roberts Webb.
His mother passed away on December 25,1932 when he was 2½ years old. On January 18,1935 his father married Margaret Jane Myers, who accepted everyone no matter the differences. He took care of his father and stepmother; even after his father passed away he continued to care for his stepmother. He was always giving of himself to family, as he prized himself on supporting the family who so often would work to ensure his welfare. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, father, step mother, sister Lorraine, and half brother Paul “Sonny” Webb. He is survived by half sister Carole Ball, nephew Scott (Karen) Barber, and niece Latricia (Mitchel) Barber Tidwell.
Jim was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving on the U.S.S. Essex, receiving the Korean Service Ribbon with Star, United Nations Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He enlisted in the Navy two weeks after high school...
