James Wallace Basham was born July 29, 1930 in Selmer, TN the son of the late James Dewey and Lillian Irene Dunaway Basham.
He was united in marriage to Ava Virginia Cody on December 22, 1951. Mrs. Basham preceded him in death on September 13, 2013.
Mr. Basham had a long distinguished career with AT&T as an Operations Network Manager. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was an avid musician playing the guitar, piano and enjoyed singing. He loved playing golf, watching Atlanta Braves baseball and SEC football. He enjoyed the company of his faithful companion, Levi the dachshund.
He was an active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a member of the senior adult choir, "Noiseful Joys," the 20/20 Vision Project collecting glasses to send to 3rd world countries, the Cornerstones Senior group and Golden Cross Ministry.
James Wallace Basham, known to his family as "Daddy Bob," departed this life on December 16, 2015 in Memphis, TN at the age of 85 Years, 4 Months, 17 Days. He is survived by a son, Robert Michael (Mike) Basham and wife Kay of Oxford, GA; a daughter, Carol (Basham) Jones and husband Thomas (Kenny) of Cordova, TN; six grandchildren Lindsey (Basham) Bronikowski and husband Taylor, Sara (Basham) Hudock and husband Steve, David Michael Basham, Philip Harden Basham, Benjamin Thomas Jones, Anna Virginia Jones; three great grandchildren, Luke Taylor Bronikowski, Ethan James Hudock, Grace Kathryn Hudock.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Basham was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Basham.
Services will be held on December 18, 2015 at 12:00 PM at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, with David Comperry officiating. Burial will follow on December 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Lake Hill Memorial Gardens at Bethel Springs, Tennessee.
Serving as Pallbearers were David Michael Basham, Philip Harden Basham, Benjamin Thomas Jones, Kenny Jones, Taylor Bronikowski, and Jerry Dunaway. Honorary Pallbearers were Mr. George Hiatt, Mr. Hollis Steele and Mr. Glenn Fuller.
