Gladys Marie Sherrill

Gladys Marie (Big Mama) Ray Staggs Sherrill departed this life on Monday,February 1, 2016 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 7 Months, 25 Days. She was born June 7, 1929 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Charlie and Dollie Mae Pulley Ray. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sherrill was preceded in death by husbands, Taylor Edna Staggs and Roy Daniel Sherrill; a daughter, Betty Garrett; a son, Samuel Taylor (Bodie) Staggs; grandson, Timothy Gray and granddaughter, Mandy Copeland.

Mrs. Sherrill was a retired factory worker and member of the Baptist church.

She is survived by daughters, Freddie Mae Gray and Shirley Morrow both of Waynesboro, TN, Glenda Ponds of Adamsville, TN, Mary Copeland of Savannah, TN and Faye Greer of Perry Co., TN; son, John Elbert Staggs of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren; Nora, Gary and William Gray, Vickie Morrow, Robert, Michael, Daniel, Nathan and Scottie Garrett, Penny Barkley, Johnnie and Jamie Staggs, Teresa Thompson, Jeff Morrow, Brandy Carter, Kevin Nance, Bryon and Chris Ponds, Steven Copeland, Stephanie Bain and Kayla Nance. 34 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Glen Miller and Sandy Potts officiating. Burial will follow in Culp's Chapel Cemetery, Perry Co., Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
