GEORGE W. GAFFNEY
Enville, TN: George William Gaffney age 89 passed away Tuesday morning October 27, 2015 at his home.
He was born November 17, 1925 in Newark, New Jersey the son of the late Edward Joseph and Jennie Allen Gaffney. He entered the Marine Corp in 1942 and served in Okinawa and later transferred to the Navy. He married Ruth Fette in 1945. They made their home in New Jersey where he worked as an electrician. They moved to Chester County in 1959. He worked as an electrician and plumber for Max Reddin Electric and later was self-employed residential and commercial electrician.
He enjoyed being outside and operating his back hoe.
Mr. Gaffney is survived by his wife Ruth Jean Fette Gaffney of Enville; two sons, George Edward Gaffney of Henderson and Don Lee Gaffney of Morris Chapel; three daughters, Donna Lee Johnson of Henderson, Ruth Jean Weaver of Henderson and Gail Jane Bell of Henderson; ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Jack, William and Leo.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday October 29, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Danny Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Sweetlips Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
