Mrs. Grantham, age 47 and the wife of Darren Grantham of Bolivar, passed away Tuesday morning, May 19, 2020, at her home.
She was born in Memphis, the daughter of the late Jack Dempsey Helton and Sylvia Kay Kupfner Helton. She met her husband, Darren, in 1986 and on Saturday, February 4, 1989, they were united in marriage. Cindy had lived in Oakland for 5-6 years and in Sulphur Springs, TX for about 3 years, but most of her life was spent in Hardeman County. She was a 1990 graduate of Lighthouse Christian School.
Mrs. Grantham worked at Lucerne in Bolivar for four years and had also operated her own florist, Cindy's Creations. Most recently, she was the secretary for Grantham's Logging, Dozer and Backhoe Service and was owner of Statewide Towing, both in Bolivar. She was co-founder of the Hardeman County Rescue Squad's Women's Auxiliary, the "Crewettes" and enjoyed anything that involved being outdoors such as hunting, fishing and working in her flower beds. Her favorite music was by George Strait and she had been to see him in concert several times. However, her family states that she was "all about her grand kids" and treasured time spent with them, most of all.
An animal lover at heart, she loved horses and often rescued animals in distress such as squirrels, raccoons and owls. While living in Texas, she worked with her father caring for the livestock on his dairy farm.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Daniel Grantham of Bolivar and Nate Grantham, and his fiance', Elizabeth Schilling, also of Bolivar; her sister, Melissa Overton and her husband, John, of Toone; two half-brothers, Robert Helton, and his wife, Sue, of Arlington and William "Bubba" Helton of Jackson; two granddaughters, Dallas Gene and Destin Lee Grantham; and six nieces and nephews, Justin, April and Derek Helton, Crystal Wilson and Bryan and Victoria Overton.
Memorials may be sent to the Hardeman County Rescue Squad, 204 Hope Street, Bolivar, TN 38008 (http://www.facebook.com/Hardemancountyrescue/)
