Bobby Joe Pickett, at 68, died at his home in Henderson on March 15, 2019.
Bobby was born in Henderson, TN on February 28, 1951 to the late Dewey Alvin and the late Jean Gatley Pickett. He was a 1969 graduate of Chester County High School. He married Sheryl Tignor on August 14, 1971 and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage. He worked early on in his adulthood at Franklins Furniture store in Jackson for about 5 years, but the majority of his career was spent raising and trading cattle. He even worked at the Savannah Sale Barn up until December 2018. He also worked in the timber business and ran Sweetlips Sawmill with his son.
He was a lifelong NY Yankees fan, coached softball for the Dixie youth league and took one team to the World Series. He enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports and wouldn’t miss a game. He was a diehard Democrat and served on the Chester County Democrat Executive Committee. He was also a member of Unity Baptist Church where he especially enjoyed serving on the Welcoming Committee because he loved talking to everybody that came in. He never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife Sheryl Pickett; two sons Kristan Wes Pickett and Kyle Hunter Pickett all of Henderson; and three grandchildren Makayla LeighAnne Pickett, Chase Anthony Pickett and Camryn Tay Pickett.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 18 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson’s Crook Avenue Chapel with Dr. James Huggins officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Ave. on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
