Mr. Billy Joe Henson, age 67 of Whiteville, Tennessee, departed this life Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
A lifelong resident of Whiteville and Hardeman County, Billy Joe was born Wednesday, June 4, 1952 to the late Joe Manard and Carolyn Georgene Harvey Henson. On Friday, December 11, 1992, he was united in marriage with Jackie Henson, who survives.
Mr. Henson served as the Chief of Police in Whiteville for seventeen years. He also worked for the Hardeman County Sheriff's Department as an investigator for two years, and had recently been working as a truck driver. He served in the Tennessee National Guard for six years and was a member of Whiteville First Baptist Church. His favorite pastimes include spending time with family and sitting in the backyard, talking under the trees.
In addition to his wife of 27 years, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica Henson of Middleton; two sons, Jordan Henson of Whiteville and Paul Wooten of Bolivar; sisters, Sandra Shields and husband Edgar of Whiteville, and Rhonda McLeroy and husband Keith of Middleton; brothers, Roger Henson and wife Shirley of Bolivar, Rickey Henson and wife Brenda of Whiteville, and Daryl Henson and wife Stacey of Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kim Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Brian Henson, who passed away in 1987.
