A. Kenneth Grooms

A. Kenneth Grooms departed this life on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at the age of 89 years, 8 months, 5 days. He was born in Perry County, Tennessee on January 9, 1926, the son of the late Alvin R. and Gertie Ellen Kimble Grooms. On June 8, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Dickson, who survives.

Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Army. He had also been self employed as a dairy farmer, a sawmill operator, and had also worked at the Hardin County Sheriff's Department for 8 years. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, especially bird hunting, and was a member of the Church of Christ in Saltillo, Tennessee. He had lived in Perry County and had lived in Hardin County for 73 years.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Jo Dickson Grooms of Saltillo, Tennessee; sisters, Helen Eason of Saltillo, Tennessee and Betty Mitchell of Memphis, Tennessee; brothers, Bobby Grooms, Billy Grooms and Kelton Grooms all of Saltillo, Tennessee; and a host of friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J.W. Grooms and a sister, Ellen Story.
